into works that include the landscape, figures, symbols and mythology.
Keenan's
work has been on the covers of many publications, including The
Malahat Review, University of Victoria and "Memory of Elsewhere"
by Rona Murray (Sono

Lindsay Branson
resides in Courtney BC
Lindsay Brabson has a love for the wild edges of the natural worlds
where the forces of nature produce the material for her work. Massive
pieces of twisted driftwood, roots and burls, remnants of long-dead
trees, now rest in the artist's studio providing her with creative
inspiration. "I take great pride that my art is created from
my love affair with wood. Whether found upon the forest floor or
shoreline, finding the inspiring piece that I can carve is both
challenging and rewarding. Her
carvings "Woodland Silence" and "The Wave" won
the silver (2007) and bronze (2005) medals respectively in the Ward
World Championship Wildlife Carving Competition in Ocean City, Maryland,
USA.

Cindy Shin-Min Wang
"I never imagined that
my immigration experience would involve moving from one island,
Taiwan, to another – Vancouver Island. When I am on the ferry
and see all the Gulf Islands I think about how my life seems to
be about shuttling among various islands. So I picked up my paintbrush
to depict my feelings about islands as a record of my life... I
like to use Chinese black ink to express my colourful life in Victoria
- ink in Chinese painting is considered “colour” and
has different shades and tones. The very simple ink is used to express
a sense of moral uprightness or a life of seclusion, whereas the
flourishing colours represent the busy pace of the mundane life.
Therefore, I use this traditional concept combined with modern technique
to convey the possibilities of the two contrasting and complementing
each other. From interview with Robert Amos:

Cindy has
shown in Taiwan, Seattle, Vancouver, South Africa and Victoria.
