Caren Heine AFCA
resides in Victoria BC
Caren Heine began showing as a professional artist at the age of
fourteen, inspired by
the spectacular flora of BC. In 1979, only six years later,
the Federation of Canadian Artists elected her to the status of
A.F.C.A. Her passion for flowers and watercolour have made her one
of the most esteemed botanical artists in Canada. For the past three
decades, Caren has been enthusiastically received in solo and group
shows across North America and with the Royal Society of Painters
in Miniature in London, England. She has also exhibited in touring
shows throughout Canada, the US and Europe, sponsored by the Government
of BC, The University of British Columbia, the Federation of Canadian
Artists, and the Canadian Nature Federation. A love of detail and
interior design has led Caren to apply her considerable talent to
areas other than two-dimensional artwork. She is an experienced
muralist and illustrator, whose winning design for the Canadian
Mint was produced as a gold collector coin.

Elena Ilku
1962
in Ukraine - resides in
BC
Elene Ilku earned a Masters degree in History of Art and Design
in Ukraine. She started her career as a professional artist in 1985,
and since then has been extensively travelling, working and exhibiting
her work throughout Europe and North America. She continued her
art education in France and the United Kingdom, which helped her
to develop a unique style of painting. Elena produces highly original
work, in which there is a release of emotion and a strangely captivating
balance between abstraction and figuration. The signs and symbols
of Slavonic Icon, one of her favourite subjects in early works,
continue to evoke the feeling and memories of old times. Elena is
a master at depicting familiar surroundings but by way of suggestion.
Elena has exhibited in Vancouver,
Toronto, France, Ukraine, London and Poland
to name a few. Her work can be found in corporate and private collections
throughout Europe and North America.

Cathryn Jenkins
resides in Langley BC
Cathryn Jenkins is the daughter of prominent sculptor Fran Jenkins.
Cathryn spent many hours in her mother's studio learning about different
stones and the relationship between artist and medium, while gaining
an understanding of line, form and the joy of sculpture. She has
her own stylized forms, influenced by her mother and Inuit and acclaimed
American sculptors. The stones selected for Cathryn's works are
hand quarried in BC. The marbles alabaster, serpentine and soapstone
have individual qualities unveiled by hammer and chisel, diamond
blades, rasps, files and the artist's eye to reveal flowing agility,
powerful line, and lustrous natural surface. Cathryn's series of
sought after wildlife sculptures continue to hold place of pride
among many private and corporate collections. Works from this series
received awards at both the AWA (American Women Artists) 2000 and
2002 competition in Santa Fe, N.M., as well as First Place: Two-dimensional
at the 19th annual Lenis-Clark center for Arts and History, Lewiston,
Idaho.

Nikol Haskova
born in Czechoslovakia - resides
in Vancouver BC
Nikol Haskova remembers sketching on the edges of newspapers when
no other material was available in Prague. She attended art shows
ranging from the Old Masters to the controversial local artists’
presentations. She was encouraged to debate the artwork in order
to develop sensitivity to the endless emotional effect on its viewer.
Nikol and her family escaped Czechoslovakia in 1987 and were finally
allowed to resettle in Vancouver. Inspiring to affect the viewer
without the use of traditional techniques, the minimalist look of
her work and the inclusion of poems or short stories are conscious
choices. Abandoning many older practices such as premixing a palette
or avoiding straight lines in her paintings, she has found her own,
if highly unconventional ways to speak on canvas. Nikol exhibits
in Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria, Banff and Whistler. Her work is
in Private Collections at the Venture Law Group, Edmonton; in Banff,
AB and at the Montreal Gazette, Montreal, QC.
